The mobile version lets you delete conversations.
If you only want to delete messages, you need to use the computer version.
From your mobile, go to your messages (mail box), then select the 3 dots (top right), as shown below :
Circles will appear on the left-hand side of each conversation, so you can select the conversations you want to delete, and you can delete them all together.
Then confirm the deletions by selecting "delete (the number of) talks".
